Welcome to the 2018 NFL Mock Draft! We have joined together with writers from a handful of other fantasy sports websites to preview the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, from the viewpoint of how these picks will affect Fantasy Football owners. The mock draft is a slow draft, and we’ll be updating all of the picks here. You can follow it right here!
Ron Rigney and Colby Conway choose at Pick 1.14 for the Green Bay Packers:
Josh Jackson, CB - Iowa
With desperate needs on the offensive line, cornerback, combined with a need for an increased pass rush,I believe Iowa’s Josh Jackson makes the most sense. The top half of the first round is heavy with secondary talent, and Jackson remains the best available at this point. His eight interceptions and 27 passes defended make a strong case for him being the pick here. His 4.56 40 time at the combine raises some concern about his ability to close the gap if he does get beat on a route, but it won’t be enough for the Pack to pass on him. His size (6’1” 192), long arms, and route anticipation will compensate for any perceived lack of speed. Green Bay allowed opposing quarterbacks a 102.0 passer rating in 2017, and also allowed 55 completions of 20+ yards, which was sixth most in the league. A stronger pass rush could also help things tremendously, but corner is the bigger need and Jackson’s talent is tough to ignore.
