Colts 19 Chiefs 13
Is this the beginning of the regression of Patrick Mahomes TD upside? I would say not yet but I’m pretty sure he will not reach the 50 TD’s he got to last year. Two straight games with one touchdown is very out of the ordinary for him but the NFL has taken notice on how to defeat the Chiefs. Patrick still managed to throw for 321 yards and still had a productive fantasy week but if the opposing teams play keep away from now on, don’t expect huge weeks from him every week. The running game didn’t help him Sunday Night as well. Damien Williams had his first game back from injury and only had 9 carries for 23 yards and LeSean McCoy was nonexistent with only 3 catches out of the backfield. For them to help Patrick get back to the norm, Andy Reid needs to call more running plays to balance out the plays and preserve his QB. The highlight of the Chiefs Sunday night was a pleasant surprise for the casual fantasy football fan but for guys like I and a friend of mine Paulie knew that Byron Pringle has the talent to succeed. With Sammy hammy Watkins messing up his hamstrings, this was his time to shine and boy did he show up and show out for this offense. The only problem with the KC wide receivers is you don't know which one is going to have the huge game between Sammy Hammy, Robinson and Hardman. Tyreek Hill is slated to come back next week so it will cloud that position even more in the coming weeks. Next week the Chiefs play the Texans and every time they play it's a shootout. Play all the studs except Watkins until you see his injury situation later on in the week.
Frank Reich put together the best game plan against the Chiefs in two years and it looked amazing. They brought back the old school 1970 game plan and shoved the running game down there throat for 45 carries. When you have an elite offensive line with that country strong Quentin Nelson on the inside, anything is possible with that running game. Marlon Mack was looking like an old school Leveon Bell when he was coming to a complete stop in the backfield and was able to read his blocks and burst through the hole. Jacoby Brissett had a very pedestrian game this week. He really didn't have to do much due to the game plan this week but he did enough to not lose the game. After week 4 he was tied for the lead in TD passes but that wasn’t needed this week. He has cemented himself as an every week start which sounds so weird when we are talking about Brissett but he has shut everyone up. Next week is a bye week for the Colts, so they went into this week with a great win and they have a week to prepare for Texans.
