Packers 23 Lions 22
What a start for the Lions this week on Monday Night Football! The flea flicker caught the Packers off guard with a huge sixty six yard gain for Kenny G. Unfortunately they couldn't capitalize on the large gain and had to settle for three points. For the next drive they had another huge gain to Marvin Hall for a fifty eight yard gain to put them in a great scoring position once more.
The Lions were able to score on this drive on a very close 1 yard touchdown by Kerryon Johnson run to put them up 10-0 in the first quarter. For the rest of the contest Matthew couldn't seem to get back into a groove as the Packers stifled them to only field goals for the rest of the game. Stafford has had only two Clutch Games this season out of six so he hasn't really been reliable due to the change of philosophy in the offense with Darrell Bevell’s heavy run first offense being implemented.
With that being said Kerryon Johnson only received 13 carries and only 34 yards on those touches. He only salvaged his fantasy week with Lions lone touchdown of the night. He still has had a Clutch Percentage of 80% this year, so don't get discouraged from this week’s performance and continue to start him every week. He’s pretty much matchup proof due to his pass catching ability. Kenny Golladay has quietly become one of the most consistent WR’s in this league today and this Monday it continued. With a line of five receptions for 121 yards he is clearly Stafford’s number one option. His 80% Clutch game consistency screams that he will have a great season.
Marvin Jones has been a huge disappointment for fantasy so far so he’s a huge drop candidate for a hot waiver wire pick up. The rookie TE curse has continued in the case of TJ Hockenson. He would have good fantasy weeks if he didn’t drop TD’s. Let’s just call him TJ Dropenson until he figures how to catch the dang ball.
Next week the Lions have the Vikings so be cautious against this matchup against this great defense. Hopefully they don't get cheated during this game. The end of this game was a bunch of bull. I’m rooting for you Lions!
What a game to win where they shouldn't have won but a W is a W and Aaron Rodgers seized the moment and won the game with limited resources. Aaron hasn't been the usual fantasy darling like he usually is but this week he showed he still has the skills to be that Bad man that he is. To start, Rodgers has had only 2 Clutch games this year so i have seen him benched for the likes of Gardner Minshew. To his defense he has been missing his number one weapon Adams and MVS has underwhelmed tremendously as well as Allison.
This week he utilized a weapon that the common person may not know. Allen Lazard came in this matchup after injuries to MVS and Allison and he balled out for Aaron for 4 receptions for 65 yards and one touchdown. With Adams,MVS, and Allison all possibly being out next week, Lazard could be a solid flex play. Jimmy Graham has continued to be a disappointment for the TE position and for the Packers. He is a shell of himself from his heyday and i'm not sure if he could be rostered on your team from a consistency standpoint. He is more likely to lose you a week than to win you one.
The biggest surprise from this game was the emergence of Jamaal WIlliams and him taking over the backfield from stud running back and darling Aaron Jones. Jones pretty much brought it on himself with a crucial drop for a touchdown and a terrible fumble while the team was driving down the field. Jamaal stepped up big time with 104 yards rushing on 14 carries. It’s by far the best game he has had in two years. If Matt Lafleur still insists on it being a 50/50 split, Williams may be a flex start weekly if you are looking for RB with some TD upside in that offense.
Next week the Packers face the Raiders. This may another week where you may have to hesitate on starting Rodgers due to the lack of weapons at the position. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams both have to be in the starting lineup. With no pass catchers they both may have to be asked to produce a little bit more.
